Guideline for working towards Net Zero with Suppliers
The Carbon Toolkit Explained
The toolkit expands on the requirements of Procurement Policy Note (PPN) 06/21) and provides a compliant template that stretches suppliers a little further.
The Carbon Toolkit provides a clear separation between using a Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) for procurement compliance vs gathering input into carbon accounting.
- Approach To Net Zero With Suppliers
- Annex A — Carbon Reduction Plan
- Annex B — Carbon Reduction Plan Evaluation
- Annex C — Calculating Scope 3 Emissions
Priority Suppliers are asked to provide:
- A commitment to external verification of Net Zero Targets
- All material scope 3 categories
- Turnover
- Methodology disclosure
- Intensity metrics
- Offset trajectory
- Product-level emissions commitment.
The CRP Evaluation Checklist will help you to assess carbon reduction plans received from suppliers. It provides a strong governance model for evaluation including:
- Compliance
- Credibility
- Best practice
- Contract management.
As your data improves, so your reliance on a spend-based methodology reduces. It’s a journey requiring sure, steady steps to 2050.
