NWUPC – 50 Years of Collaborative Procurement

Celebrating NWUPC turning 50

NWUPC’s 50th anniversary is an important opportunity to celebrate five decades of collaboration, shared expertise and progress across higher education and public sector procurement. It recognises not only the organisation’s development since 1976, but also the contribution of the members, staff, suppliers and sector partners who have shaped its work and supported its success. Their knowledge, commitment and willingness to collaborate have helped NWUPC respond to change, deliver lasting value and strengthen procurement communities. Delivering value and moving forward

For 50 years, NWUPC has helped members achieve greater value by bringing our Member institutions together through collaborative procurement. By combining collective purchasing power with compliant frameworks, specialist expertise and informed commercial decision making, we help members secure high quality goods and services while saving time, reducing risk and making public funds go further.

Strong member communities

NWUPC’s achievements have always been shaped by the knowledge, commitment and active participation of its Members. Through Category Groups, professional networks, working groups and shared forums, members can exchange ideas, explore common challenges and learn from one another. At NWUPC we build trusted relationships and a strong community that supports better procurement across the sector.

Responsible procurement

NWUPC works closely with members, suppliers and sector partners to turn responsible procurement ambitions into meaningful action. Together, we support progress across sustainability, social value, carbon reduction, ethical supply chains, modern slavery, and equality, diversity and inclusion. NWUPC are helping members make purchasing decisions that create lasting benefits for people, communities and the environment.

Our frameworks and digital development

From early paper based administrative processes to today’s digital platforms, NWUPC has continually developed for members to have access and support on our frameworks. Online framework information, digital publications, virtual learning and dedicated member resources now make it easier to find guidance, connect with colleagues and make well informed procurement decisions wherever members are working.

Customer service excellence

The NWUPC Team has retained our Customer Service Excellence (CSE) Award for 2026, demonstrating our continued commitment to providing responsive, inclusive and high quality support. We have held the CSE Award for over 10 years, and this recognition reflects the dedication of our team and the importance we place on listening to members, understanding their needs and continually improving the services we provide.

Professional development

For five decades, NWUPC has created opportunities for procurement professionals to learn, develop and share their expertise. Our training sessions, webinars, conferences and collaborative events help members strengthen their knowledge, build practical skills and respond confidently to new legislation, emerging priorities and the changing needs of the higher education and wider public sectors.

Continued collaboration

Our 50th anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate everything our community has achieved together while looking confidently towards the future. Continued collaboration between our members, our team, our suppliers and our sector partners will remain at the heart of NWUPC, helping us deliver greater value, a first class service, encourage innovation and respond collectively to the opportunities and challenges ahead.
