NWUPC Travel Category Group – Middle East Conflict
SUPC have been in contact with suppliers on the TMC agreement in relation to the ongoing events in the Middle East and have provided the following update and contact points, also below is an article from Business Travel News which provides more information on the wider impact the events have had on the market.
If you do have questions or need support with a travel query please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Travel Management Companies are issuing direct communications and traveller alerts to members where itineraries may be affected. As a result, SUPC have been seeking insight from the Travel Management Companies (TMC’s) to understand what the best actions to take with regards to those travelling to or from affected regions. I’ll follow up with any further updates as they come in.
- For Key Travel customers in affected areas, email reservations.UK@keytravel.com, ensuring ‘Middle East’ is used in the email subject line. These emails are being filtered and prioritised to ensure urgent cases are handled as quickly as possible.
- Studylink have confirmed they do not have any student groups affected by the situation.
- DGI Travel advise their customers who require urgent assistance to contact 0044(0161) 235 5400, and to check your flight status directly with the airline before proceeding to the airport.
TMC advice for anyone concerned about current events in the region is to closely monitor guidance issued by the FCDO and sign up for real-time alerts.
Members may also find the following updates helpful:
- ABTA update: Iran: Heightened political tension in the region: Update 6
- FCDO guidance: Tell the UK government you’re in United Arab Emirates – Register your presence abroad
The advice is changing by the minute, and airline websites will have the latest status updates. If your people are in the region, stay in contact with your TMC, follow the instructions of local authorities, register your presence with the FCDO and do not assume any schedule is confirmed until your carrier tells you directly. We will continue to monitor the situation and liaise with suppliers to ensure members are kept appropriately informed.
